Galatea - Mixed Animal Veterinarian

We are on the lookout for our next awesome vet to join our team, as one of our lovely vets is spreading their wings and heading overseas.

We’re a mixed animal clinic, with 95% of our large animal work being dairy, and typically a 65/35 split towards the large animal side, though this varies throughout the season. We are located in Galatea, a large farming community in the Bay of Plenty.

Our dairy farms are smaller than average, ranging from 100 to 800 cows. We are extremely lucky that our farms are pretty much all within a 10 minute drive of the clinic, so help is never far away, and time spent driving is relatively minimal. Our clinic is rural, so the small animal side comprises predominantly routine desexing and vaccinations, as well as sick animals and stitch ups.

There is a great community here in Galatea, which all of us love working and living in. We are a very supportive clinic, working together as a team on a daily basis, and often spending time together outside of work too.

Our current staff consists of full and part-time vets, support staff, vet technicians, and casual techs that help throughout the busy times. We also benefit from help and support from the wider Vetora BOP team, while still maintaining a small clinic feel.

We are looking for ideally a full-time mixed animal veterinarian with a couple of years experience, but this is negotiable for the right person. We enjoy teaching and helping people learn and grow, so would also welcome new graduates.

We can provide a modern ute for daily use, kitted out with the usual requirements for large animal visits. The clinic is set up with Fuse in-house diagnostics, digital xray processing, ultrasound, and dental machines.

Our scenery here is simply stunning, and we have nature on our doorstep with walks, rivers, and lakes all close by. One of NZ’s top mountain biking destinations Rotorua is a 45 minute drive, and great surfing beaches are a similar distance in the other direction. Please don’t be put off by our rural location, this is a truly special place!
